On the Move @ Cerveceria Catalana, Barcelona

Cerveceria Catalana is not your ordinary tapas bar because it is also a bustling beer bar in the L'Eixample neighborhood! Someone told me that the origin of tapas began when the Spanish started using a piece of bread to cover a glass of beer to keep the flies out. Hence the word ‘tapas’ was born; tapa means cover. So it just seems fitting to pair tapas dishes with ice cold beer.

At Cerveceria Catalana stick to the fried and grilled seafood. I ordered the foie gras sandwich continuing my hunt for foie gras. For some reason, the waitress forgot about this order so it came out as the last savory dish but didn't meet my expectations. It turned out to be pate and melted cheese smacked on a hotdog bread. The heavy carbo overshadowed the pate making the entire sandwich too dry. Also since this is a tapas/beer bar, please skip the dessert.

Fried squid. Squeeze the lemon generously since this dish has an ample amount of salt.

Grilled shrimp skewers. An easier and cleaner way to eat shrimps compared to the one below.

I enjoyed sucking the prawns' head and de-shelling them, but my companions thought it was too much trouble.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! They also serve wine, cava and non-alcoholic beverages.

One of the most disappointing foie gras dishes I've ever have. Since I was reading the menu in Catalan, I have a feeling that I may have misunderstood the literal English translation. This is really not what I had in mind.

Creme brulee. Nothing special here. The postres (desserts) is not Cerveceria Catalana's strength.
