On the Move @ Nobu, Las Vegas
Nobu in Las Vegas is a bit of a conundrum. First off, it is located in the somewhat dilapitated, out of the strip Hard Rock Hotel. Once you step inside the hotel, you are greeted with no crowd in the casino and there was an odd (puke?) smell by the club beside the restaurant. Surprisingly by the end of our meal though, Nobu was packed, but once you step outside, it was still dead as daylight.
What's worth noting about Nobu is the excellent platter of dessert as shown above. I enjoyed the variety of mochi the most. Thank goodness we ended our meal with a good note since I was a bit disappointed with their specialized entrees, especially the ones that are infused with Japanese and Peruvian ingredients. It was not as spectacular as how the wait staff described it to be (yes, they did do a very good job at pitching the menu! ha!). It is also commendable that you can bring your vegan friends here since the chef can custom-make anything, including vegetarian sushi and entrees.
Overall, Nobu is a bit out of the way, expensive especially if the menu is customized and many hits and misses. Customer service is, however, at par with many high-end restaurants in Vegas. Perhaps, once their lease ends, they need to move to a hippier, modern location?
