Eating My Way Through Macau Part 6: Seng Cheong

Omg! My favorite type of food is crabs! Put that on anything- may it be in noodles or porridge, I will die a happy girl. Seng Cheong is located on Rua de Cunha in Taipa and known for its crab porridge! Wee. I couldn't contain my excitement when I heard what we would be eating that night.

Seng Cheong is somewhat a hole-in-the-wall. It was jam packed when we came in and was seated in their extension area, which looked like a storage room for their crates of beer! This is THE place to eat in Macau whether you're in a tight budget or not. The food is simply divine and at a very reasonable price. In no particular order, we ordered (hold your breath...) crab porridge, homemade fish balls, crab noodles, chicken feet, fried calamari, prawn in crab (?) roe sauce (!), broccoli, clams and Macau beer  and tea to break down the cholesterol. All for under $30 each. What a deal!!! You got to be a seafood lover to enjoy Seng Cheong and thank goodness I was with an all Singaporean crew (except for yours truly but I can be an adopted Singaporean, right?) with one that spoke fluent Cantonese :)

I can't express my extreme delight in finding this restaurant. Food might be a bit salty for some so lay off on the sauces.

Melt in your mouth fish and cuttlefish (?) balls.

Crab porridge. A bit hard to eat the crabs since they have been submerged in the porridge but it really made the dish have a distinct crab taste.

Balancing the fried foods with steamed broccoli and squid.

My favorite finger licking good prawns! :)

Very fresh and tender calamari

Chicken feet - not for me. Can you see the clams too on the top right?

Dunk down some Macau beer. Not too yeasty.

San Mig in Macau!
