On the Move @ Commander's Palace, New Orleans
Who can't miss a place that is labeled as a legendary restaurant, Commander's Palace? In the middle of the residential Garden District, the blue mansion sticks out like a sore thumb. Even the name sounds astounding, right?
I was getting ready for an awesome brunch but was disappointed with the normalcy (i.e. nothing out of this world) of the flavors of the dishes. Although Commander's Palace had a live band serenading some patrons, the multicolored balloons that signified brunch hours seem tacky and inappropriate for the fancy, white-cloth service. Hats off though to the wait staff who were all attentive and diners, mostly locals, all donned up on their best 'Sunday' attire.

Ponchatoula Strawberry Cheesecake. My sources told me that this is a must try. |

Coconut bisque- sultry flavor that works well as an amuse bouche |

Tacky balloons for brunch. I though it was someone's birthday party! |

Tender, soft duck with egg benedicts. I enjoyed the shredded duck until the eggs' yolks started making the jus really thick and gooey. A better version of this would have been fried duck with egg benedicts such as the one served in Central Kitchen. |
