On the Move @ Sweet Maple, San Francisco
It was a frigid and blustery typical San Francisco day when I made my way to Sweet Maple. I am disappointed to say that the so-so food is not worth the long wait, albeit not as long as Mama's. I took note via Yelp that people come here for the Millionaire's Bacon, which can also be ordered at their sister restaurant, Kitchen Story, and the deep fried french toast. The only difference between the two establishments is that you can make reservations at Kitchen Story and thus prevent yourself from freezing during a cold day.
The deep fried french toast reminded me of Mickey Mouse shaped snacks in Disneyland topped with confectionery sugar. Lots of it! Kids and those with a sweet tooth would probably devour on the toast but not the health buffs. I did balance out my entire Sweet Maple experience with a healthier and yummy dose of huevos rancheros, a minibowl of fresh fruits, a glass of fresh OJ and sweet mimosa.
This busy brunch place has its decibels a notch higher so expect to talk louder to your dining buddies. I hate to break it though. Sweet Maple barely made a dent on my list of Best Brunches in San Francisco.
