Spice it Up for Mother's Day at Hawker Fare, San Francisco
Happy Mother's Day to all supermoms out there!
First off, I was a bit under the weather when I visited Hawker Fare's new outpost in San Francisco, meaning my sense of taste was not functioning accurately. All I could taste was spicy or bland. Good thing that my eating buddies- another food blogger and a pastry chef- ordered mainly spicy salads and the catfish curry on their more extensive menu than the one I visited in Oakland to help me get through the night.
I am giving Hawker Fare minus points for not serving hot water with lemon. Cringe! I was having chills from the blustery wind that came in every time the main door opened. Isn't this supposed to be an Asian restaurant or what? If I was in a better state of mind, I would have personally complained to the manager about this major oversight.
Top to Bottom (L-R): Their version of Hainanese chicken better than what I tried in Oakland, Laotian earthy mushroom soup with quail egg, spicy mushroom salad, spicy fried egg salad. |
