The Canadian Wine Country: Niagara-on-the-Lake

Niagara Falls
While checking Niagara Falls off the travel list, we made our way to nearby Niagara-on-the-Lake, the wine country of Ontario known for their icewines. Just like any wine country, such as Napa Valley and Cape Winelands, the farm-to-table concept is also popular in this region. We had lunch at Backhouse for some wood-fired pizza and the traditional poutine, Canadian french fries with chicken fat and cheese curd, to fill up our tummy before enjoying more icewines.

Veggie pizza. Not the best but works well with the icewine.
So sinful this poutine.
Icewines are ideal for wine drinkers with a sweeter palette- which means that even cabernets are on the sweeter side. I loved both the white and red wines that I was able to taste at Two Sister Vineyards. I was just so sad to learn that they don't have any presence outside of Canada. Since no one in my travel party was checking in their luggage, there was no way to bring home the wines, and I refused to pay for unnecessary shipping fees.

Can someone bring this to me?
I'm sold on icewines!

Icewines are so refreshing.
I was hoping to buy two bottles of icewines at the airport's Duty Free like what I did when I was in South Africa, but I didn't expect that the exit immigration in the country had a long line. I had no time to buy wines anymore and rushed to the boarding gate. On my next trip to Canada, I will make sure to bring some icewines back home with me.
