You’re probably trying to check off your New Year’s resolutions, including eating healthier- which is on the list every single year. You promise yourself that this year will be different. If you plan on lesser cheat days, this goal is best achieved when you have healthy, low-calorie ingredients readily available in your kitchen cabinet.
Don’t fret! This 5-ingredient parfait recipe is packed with nutritious foods, such as fresh strawberries and bananas, nonfat Greek yogurt, superfood moringa powder, and zero-calorie Truvia Natural Sweetener. It will help you tick off that health goal with green and red flying colors.
Moringa is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Knowing that even a teaspoon of moringa powder has an acquired grassy taste, while the Greek yogurt is tangy, I stopped by my neighborhood Safeway store to buy Truvia Natural Sweetener for a naturally sweet flavored parfait without the added calories. Safeway never fails me when it comes to purchasing my favorite ingredients. After an easy checkout process, I’m off concocting more recipes!
Ingredients:
½ cup of nonfat Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon moringa powder
½ banana, chopped
2 strawberries, chopped
1 packet of Truvia Natural Sweetener
1 ziploc bag for piping
1-2 small mason jars
Directions:
1. Combine the yogurt, moringa powder and Truvia Natural Sweetener.2. Cut a tip of the ziploc bag for ½ inch. Scoop the yogurt mixture into the ziploc.
3. Pipe the yogurt mixture into a glass or a mason jar. Depending on the jar’s diameter and depth, ensure that you pipe enough mixture to cover the entire jar’s bottom and the mixture is about 1 inch thick or more so that the fruits don’t sink in.
4. Carefully assemble the fruits to your liking.
5. Sprinkle with moringa powder on top.
Depending on the jar or glass you use, this is one of those recipes that you can get creative with the design and layer more different fruits or colors of the yogurt to make it more photogenic.
