Review: The Longevity Diet in a Box
I am glad that my order for Nutrition for Longevity, healthy prepared meals, came at the right time when indoor dining is once again shut-down. With the onslaught of winter weather, outdoor dining in restaurants may not be the best idea in this part of the world.
Lunch and dinner with a bottle of olive oil by Nutrition for Longevity |
Nutrition for Longevity's 3-day trial pescatarian box comes with lunch boxes that contain mostly lighter meals, such as the:
- Okinawa cold somen noodle salad
- Nicoyan forbidden black rice bowl
- Loma linda quinoa cranberry salad
The dinner boxes are warmer meals with meatier proteins, such as the:
- Okinawa teriyaki with glazed vegetables and haddock
- Nicoyan paella with shrimp
- Calabrian salmon with quinoa
Each box comes with its own heating instructions, nutritional facts, ingredients, and expiry date.
I first tried the paella with shrimp, which is a healthier version with black forbidden rice, peas, corn, and spices. After microwaving it for 3 minutes, the rice and shrimp looked dry. The taste also needed a little more oomph, so I added some sriracha and a splash of soy sauce to bring out the flavors. As an avid seafood lover, I do appreciate prepared meals with fresher seafood. Unfortunately, the small shrimps in the paella were overcooked and needed a squeeze of lemon to liven it up. I'm hoping that the haddock fish and salmon will withstand the microwave or oven heating process better.
