A Fun, Hearty Brunch at Sophie's Cosmic Cafe, Vancouver
After a short bus ride from Yaletown, Vancouver, I found myself at the fun and funky Sophie's Cosmic Cafe for brunch. The walls covered in eclectic artwork and knick-knacks, and the staff dressed in retro 1950s-style uniforms greeted me cheerfully as I made my way to my chosen booth with red and pink cushions.
The menu at Sophie's Cosmic Cafe offers a wide variety of options, from classic breakfast items like eggs benedict and pancakes to hearty lunch and dinner options like burgers, sandwiches, and salads. There are also vegetarian and gluten-free options available. I had the special of the day, which was a lobster benedict with 2 soft poached eggs paired with oat milk matcha latte. What caught me by surprise was the entrance of a large, homemade hot sauce that I had so much fun pouring on my lobster bennie. It had the right level of sweetness and light spiciness that came from the aged cayenne red peppers.
Sophie's is a great spot for families, with a kids' menu and plenty of space to accommodate large groups. There's even a play area for kids, complete with a mini slide and play kitchen. Although it was raining when I went, it would have been exciting to also explore the neighborhood in the trendy Kitsilano after brunch to check out the local shops, galleries, and other attractions.
I can't wait to come back at Sophie's Cosmic Cafe to try their other hearty dishes and milkshakes.
